Niue Language week 2017

NIUE LANGUAGE WEEK & DIWALI

What a wonderful way to start Term 4
A joint celebration of the Niue language and DIWALI
On Tuesday we held a Niue flag raising ceremony.
Our front office entrance had a display of Niue and Indian artefacts

During the week students participated in learning of the Niue language, through videos and songs.
Children also learned about Diwali and created some Rangoli art.

On Friday we acknowledged the end of the week with a celebration assembly. On Friday some of the children across the school participated in making of a Niue delicacy called the takihi.
Some children entertained us at assembly with Diwali dance items and the Niue group from Alfriston College shared their culture with us through dances and singing. They were absolutely amazing.

We would like to acknowledge all the parents who helped assist us with the activities on Friday and with other activities leading up to the celebration on Friday. Thank all so much.
Fakaue lahi mahaki kia mutolu oti moe ha mutolu a tau lagomatai.

Here are some of the activities our children participated in during the week.
